I hope you enjoyed the Olympics as much as I did. I
thought the whole event from beginning to end was a triumph - from the uniquely
quirky and British opening ceremony through two weeks of exceptional Team GB
performances to the closing party - it was all exceptional. There was
understandably some skepticism towards the country’s ability to rise to the
challenge.
I am not entirely sure why bearing in mind the achievements of the past. However, maybe that was the greatest triumph of all. The realisation that we don’t have to look backwards for example of what makes the United Kingdom great - we are actually still great now. Construction workers who completed a first class Olympic Park on time and on budget, an army of cheerful and welcoming volunteers, sportsmen and women showing example after example of the rewards for hard work and dedication. All a wonderful demonstration to the rest of us citizens that anything is achievable with hard work and utter commitment.
Role on the Paralympics!
